The Samford Avenue of Honour will comprise a unique pedestrian pathway of some 700 metres in length stretching from Burton Lane to the Soccer Fields.
Twenty advanced hoop pines have been planted to honour the sacrifices of 20 local servicemen in both World Wars and the Korean conflict.
Eighty additional smaller trees will be planted bringing the total to 100 trees to mark the Centenary in 2015 of the ANZAC Gallipoli campaign.
This will be one of the most significant Avenues of Honour commenced in Queensland over the last 50 years.
THE PROJECT
The Samford RSL Sub-Branch is working closely with other partner organisations including the Samford Lions Club, Rotary Club of Samford Valley and the Moreton Bay Regional Council in order to deliver this significant community project by 25 April 2015.
The Avenue of Honour will not only recognise the significance of the Centenary of ANZAC but will provide an important link between Samford Village, the Samford Parklands recreational facilities and the wider trail network.
